Environment protection of Jiao Jia takes pollution reduction and pollution accident prevention as goal, insists on principle that grasps environment protection from the basis, pollution accident from source, supervision from responsibility, and system from implementation, realizes the transfer from terminal treatment to pollution prevention, and pays much attention to reducing production and discharge of pollution from the source. Dropping the conventional concept that environment protection was “three waste” treatment and eligible drainage, the company sets up new development advantage, actively introduces circular economy mode featured by low-exploitation, high-application, and low-drainage, transfers economic activity to the advanced feedback mode of “resource-product-renewable resource”, and build the enterprise into an ecological enterprise harmoniously existing together with the environment.

1. Strengthen supervision and management, inspect and examine strictly. Environment protection is more important than developing economy. Taking supervision and management as method and national policy education as core, the mine enlarge science and technology investment, makes environment protection regulations, such as Pollution Prevention Management Regulation of Jiao Jia Gold Mine, Operation & Management Regulation of Tailings Storage, Assessment Rules of Safe Production and Environment Protection, etc, and puts pollution reduction index into related workshops and teams; perfect environment protection system, gradually deepen environment protection supervision and management; promote sustainable development of enterprise; realize win-win of environment and production.

2. Realize zero-discharge of cyanide waste water. In October 1999, the company realized zero-discharge of cyanide waste water. Up to October 2006, it reduced cyanide waste water totally of 150,000t and toxic cyanide of 45,000g. Centralized processing of sanitary wastewater is drained upon the standard to irrigate the farmland.

3. Manufacture by using down-hole water ore-dressing. Down-hole water produced during extraction and production underground is of chloride ion concentration of 6,800mg/l, half sea water characteristics. Although it corrupts manufacturing equipment seriously, affects production target, and pays maintenance fee and corrosion resistance fee of RMB 200,000 additionally, the mine still insists on using down-hole water to do ore-dressing production in order that finite surface water resources may be used in farmland irrigation.  

4. Develop comprehensive usage of tailings and waster rocks. Construct project which uses 50,000t tailings and manufactures aerated concrete segment of 100,000m3/year. Research and apply tailing back filling technology, which reduces discharge of tailings of 500,000t every year, effectively prevents the collapse of earth’s surface building and farmland, and protects ecological environment surrounded the mining area. Manufacture building materials by using of tailings and waste rocks, such as down-hole high-water filling materials, paving blocks, wall bricks, carpolites, intermediate and high grade floor tiles, etc, which not only protects ecological environment, but also increases the economic and social benefit of enterprise.

5. Pay attention to land reclamation and ecological protection. Comprehensively treat outdoor goaf and expired tailing deposit. Reclaim land about 160mu (1mu=666.7sq.m). On the reclaimed lands, high-water material plants, tailing brick making plant, industrial material storage field, AND playground (27mu), where plant poplar trees, lodgepole pines and other ecological protective trees.

6. Strengthen operation management of tailing deposit. Design, construction, organization, and management of tailing deposit are strictly according to the standard of Safety Management Regulations of Tailing Deposit issued by State Economic and Trade Commission, and Tailing Pollution Prevention Management Regulation and Pollution Control Standard ofGeneral Industrial Solid Waste Storage & Disposition Site issued by State Environmental Protection Administration. The company arranges full-time worker to offer 24h patrol inspection to ensure the safety operation and tailing deposit and standard-met discharge of waste water.

7. Treat soot and exhaust gas of boiler: all the boilers are equipped with smog-eliminating and sulfur-removing purifying device. The company reduces soot discharge over 95% and pollution over SO260% every year, which effectively improves and protects atmosphere environment quality. 8. Reduce noise and improve post environment. Apply advanced technology and high-quality sound insulation and noise absorbing materials to reduce internal and external noise of air compressor room and improve the working environment and conditions. The factory noise reaches the regulated environment protective standard.

9. Strictly construct project “three simultaneously” and “environment impact assessment” systems. Strictly implement state environment protection laws and local environment protection regulations and do “five do-not-construct” (do not construct high energy consumption and serious pollution project, do not construct project not in accordance with industrial policy, do not construct project not in accordance with development layout of local area, do not construct project with serious pollution discharge, and do not construct project affecting regional environment safety or project in subtle geographical position). The standard-met new project applies advanced technology of energy conservation and pollution reduction preferentially. Strictly abide by system of “three simultaneously” and “environment impact assessment”, continuously promote clean production and reduce pollution discharge
10. Build green and harmonious mine. In terms of virescence, the mine pays attention to the combination of beauty, wind & dust resistanceeffect and ecological protection. As you come here, you will see green trees, colorful flowers, orderly industrial workshop, park integrating leisure and body building, and complete facilities. Large area of dust-resistant and dust-reducing trees and various shrubs form dust & wind resistant ecological network in product and living areas. There are totally over 30 kinds of flowers and trees planting in the area, showing a colorful plant scene.
